Suisun City, CA at a Glance
Suisun City is located a mere five-minute drive south of Fairfield,
California. Once a
shipping and civic hub, the construction of Interstate 80 in the 1960s diverted
most of Suisun City's commercial activity to Fairfield. Today, Suisun City prides
itself on its community revitalization, a project that has transformed the city
into an attraction with a historic feel. The Old
Town Waterfront and the Historic
Main Street Shopping District are two examples of the remodeled Suisun City
and provide opportunities for shopping, dining, live musical entertainment and
more. Boat excursions to the San Francisco Bay leave from Suisun and were made
more accessible in the early 1990s with the deepening of the Suisun Channel that
borders the city. Fishing in the Suisun Channel is another popular local activity,
with sturgeon and striped bass being the most sought after catches.
